Chuanpu Liu obtained his bachelor’s degree in physics from Sichuan University and his Ph.D. degree in condensed matter physics from Peking University.  His research work focuses on sputtering growth of magnetic insulators and topological materials; control of magnetization utilizing spin-orbit torque from heavy metal and topological materials; and magnetization dynamics of FePt around Curie temperature.  He serves as a reviewer for several journals that include Nature communications, Physical Reviews Letters, Physical Reviews B, Physical Reviews Applied, Nano Letters, and Journal of Alloys and Compounds.  He served on the Organizing Committee of the 2023 IEEE Magnetics Society AtC-AtG Conference. He is currently a member of the IEEE Magnetic Society Standards Committee.

Vijaysankar Kalappattil

Associate Research Scientist

Vijaysankar Kalappattil obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. degree in Applied Physics from the University of South Florida, Tampa, in 2015 and 2019, respectively. His Ph.D. thesis was focused on spin caloritronic and related phenomena in functional magnetic complex oxides. His current research interests include quantum transports in topological materials, superconductivity, and antiferromagnetic spintronics.  Vijay is currently serving as the Secretary of the IEEE Magnetic Society Standards Committee and the Lead Organizer for the APS focus group on complex oxides.  Vijay also serves as an active reviewer for several journals that include Physical Review B, Review of Scientific Instruments, Nature Scientific Report, Journal of Alloys and Compounds, and IEEE Transactions on Magnetics.  He was a Conference Co-Chair for the inaugural IEEE Magnetics Society AtC-AtG Conference in 2020. Vijay has been a member of American Physical Society and a member of IEEE Magnetics Society since 2014.

Vipul Sharma

Post-Doctoral Research Fellow

Vipul Sharma is working as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the NAME Lab at Northeastern University.  He obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electronics from the University of Delhi in 2010 and 2013, respectively, and his Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi in 2022.  His research work focuses on studies of magnetization dynamics and spin waves in magnetic thin films grown by pulsed laser deposition and magnetron sputtering techniques.  He is a reviewer for IEEE Transaction in Magnetics and Journal of Alloys and Compound and is serving on the Organizing Committee of the 2024 IEEE Magnetics Society AtC-AtG Conference.  He is a member of the American Physical Society.

Justin Dickovick

Ph.D. Student

Justin Dickovick graduated from Fairfield University with a bachelor’s degree in physics and mathematics before attending the Graduate School at Colorado State University where he achieved his master’s degree in physics.  He joined NAME Lab in 2023.  He is a member of American Physical Society and a member of IEEE Magnetics Society.  He received a travel grant for the 2023 IEEE Magnetics Society Summer School.  He served as a reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Magnetics.  His current research focuses on ferromagnetic resonance measurements of amorphous ferromagnetic thin films for Sonera Magnetics to be used in detecting both muscle and brain signals, as well as using chemical etching and dry etching techniques to fabricate magnonic crystals with interesting spin-wave dispersion properties. In his free time, he enjoys rock climbing, games, and hiking.
